The Sims 2 COMPATIBILITY WITH WINDOWS 8

I've spoken with customer support and looked through Google and The Sims 2 just isn't compatible with Window 8.

A technician suggested I post to encourage those who love The Sims 2 to speak up, so that EA may develop a patch for us.

It's not fair that we can't play a great game because we have a new computer. The Sims 2 was by far the better game...I really don't enjoy 3 or 4. I miss Sims Business and my shops!!!

Please respond here if you'd like to see a patch created so that The Sims 2 is playable on ALL operating systems!!!!!!

  • my game works fine but I think for all the Sims 2 fan base, there should be a patch to help all of us use our games.

The FAQ in this section says...

Does UC run on Windows 8/8.1 ?

Yes, it does. You might need to start your game in compatibility mode though.

    1. Find the Sims 2 UC Icon on your desktop
    2. Right click on it and choose properties
    3. Choose the tab compatility
    4. Click on the little tick in compatibilty mode and choose Windows XP (SP3) from the dropdown box."

As written is the faq quoted below, the game must be avaliable on Windows 8 if you activate the compatibility mode. For some unclear reasons, it don't work with some people.

To activate the compatibility mode :

    1. Find the Sims 2 UC Icon on your desktop
    2. Right click on it and choose properties
    3. Choose the tab compatility
    4. Click on the little tick in compatibilty mode and choose Windows XP (SP3) from the dropdown box.

Thanks for the responses, but unfortunately I've tried that and compatibility mode still doesn't work ☹️
