[The Sims 2] Compatibility with Windows 8/10

    I just wanted to share how I was able to get The Sims 2 4 disc PC CD-Rom to work on my windows 8 laptop.

    I firstly installed the sims 2 onto one of my family members windows 7 laptop. Once everything was installed and up and running, I went to My Computer - Data. In this folder was another folder called EA Games. 

    I put this entire folder onto a USB stick, which took about 25 minutes.

    Then I went back to my windows 8 laptop and uploaded this 'EA Games' folder into my Data folder. Again I went to My Computer - Data and then just dropped the folder in there.

    I then installed the sims 2 onto my windows 8 laptop. Once it was all installed I right clicked on the Icon on the desktop page went to properties - compatibility - compatibility mode - and selected Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

    Then I right clicked on the icon again and clicked Run as Administrator. It crashed about 5 times but then just worked. My sims game is now up and running perfectly fine.

Please help make a patch.  I love sims 2.  I love the game so much.  It makes my day to play it when I am having a really bad day.  Please please please will even purchase the patch.

    Hi everyone,

    Good news I hope. This is what I did and it worked

    First, right click on the shortcut/program and select troubleshoot in compatibility mode, tell it it used to work but doesnt now, click the bottom option, and select windows 7 (top option). When you get on,l click your living place then before you do anything, go to settings. Change all the graphic stuff to medium, not high. And turn reflections off - then it works perfectly for me.

    Lots of threads saying about the windows 8 graphics cards being a problem which is what made me change the graphics down. Good luck everyone!
