[The Sims 2] Compatibility with Windows 8/10

Okay, I don't like Sims 3; Sims 2 is the best, I love it so much. I got a new laptop loaded with Windows 8 and I managed to get Sims 2 itself on my laptop but I can't install the patch therefore can't install any expansions. PLEASE MAKE A PATCH THAT MAKES SIMS 2 COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 8! I don't want to have all these Sims 2 games for nothing. >.>

    I just wanted to share how I was able to get The Sims 2 4 disc PC CD-Rom to work on my windows 8 laptop.

    I firstly installed the sims 2 onto one of my family members windows 7 laptop. Once everything was installed and up and running, I went to My Computer - Data. In this folder was another folder called EA Games. 

    I put this entire folder onto a USB stick, which took about 25 minutes.

    Then I went back to my windows 8 laptop and uploaded this 'EA Games' folder into my Data folder. Again I went to My Computer - Data and then just dropped the folder in there.

    I then installed the sims 2 onto my windows 8 laptop. Once it was all installed I right clicked on the Icon on the desktop page went to properties - compatibility - compatibility mode - and selected Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

    Then I right clicked on the icon again and clicked Run as Administrator. It crashed about 5 times but then just worked. My sims game is now up and running perfectly fine.

    If you are able to get a neighborhood to load, choose one of the preexisting families and move them into a house. Save the game from that point. I could not  use it for more than 3 minutes at a time, and I was unable to create my own character until I tried this. After I had established a save point, I was able to play the game just as before. Hope this helps! :-)

    Hi,

    I was just wondering doesn't EA do anything about this???

    I mean like most of us I've looked for solutions online and did everything they tell you but it still wont work and EA doesn't help us at all???

    J'ai un nouvel ordinateur windows 8 et les sims 2 ne marche pas : c'est mis erreur fatale,.. Comment faire pour que ce soit compatible ?

    all i did was install windows 8.1 and everything works. I play for three hours straight without problems

    Not sure about the Windows 8.1 thing, I did my own resolution from this post prior to the release of 8.1. It might word as well.

    I'm having a similar problem, I was able to download and install origin, and the sims 2 games. They updated fine, and I installed the patch.  The problem I'm having is the Sims 2 launcher wont launch. It says that a problem caused the launcher act unexpectedly and it checks for a solution to the problem and then closes without doing anything. I've restarted my machine and updated windows and I'm thoroughly convinced I HATE WINDOWS 8!

    I am still having this issues. I think it's in very poor taste that EA continues to pump out new versions of an existing game that is full of bugs and errors. Give me one good reason why I should continue spending my extremely hard earned money on these pieces of garbage? I have been having this issue for three months now. I own the entire set of Sims 2 games and I have a new hp laptop with windows 8 installed and up to date, I have internet explorer installed and up to date, as well as the Google chrome browser, also up to date. The Game Launcher seems to be incompatible with Windows 8. I have tried everything in order to make this work and I am just about fed up. I am ready to uninstall these games and never spend a single cent on another EA product as long as I live! I'm about to blare it across my Facebook and my twitter that EA is a soulless, filthy money grubbing company that has no interest whatsoever in putting out a quality product. I would like to see this issue addressed at the very least, otherwise EA has lost a loyal customer. But I'm sure they don't care. Clearly.
