The Sims 2 Legacy Edition not launching

Is anybody else having trouble with The Sims 2 Legacy Edition not even launching after the latest patch? All i get is a error message saying "The Sims 2 is not installed on this system, or some required files have  been deleted. This expansion pack requires The Sims 2 in order to run. Please install The Sims 2 before attempting to run this application." After the message, I just get kicked back to the EA app.
