I'm having a hard time getting my sims 2 games to run on my PC, they did last week but now they won't. I have sims 3 on my oigin account and I'd like to add my Sims 2 games as well. I know I'm a little late to the game here but I recently moved and just unpacked my games finally. Is there anyway I can do this? Any help is really appreciated.
@Whatsername85 , Sims 2 is not available on Origin nor in any digital format for the Windows OS. If you still have your disks, you can install your game that way as long as you have a disk drive. If you do not have a disk drive, they are not very expensive these days.
I have a copy of the Sims 2 and some expansions + the manuals with the codes. I have a disc drive but whenever I try to play it crashes after I choose a neighborhood, and if I try to play in compatibility mode it acts as if I don't have the disc inserted. Is there really no way I can get the game digitally anymore?
Unless you have an Apple computer, I'm afraid not. There are ways to get your game to run. First of all, try moving (not copying or creating a short cut) the Sims 2 file found in Documents > EA Games > Sims 2 to your Desktop. Next start up the game and see if it will allow you start a new game. None of your CC, Mods or Saved games will be present at this time, but this will allow you to figure out if something is causing your game to crash.
Oh yes it is available. My friend got a new computer, installed Origin and BAM! TS2 Ultimate downloaded directly. I had some expansion packs on disc but a broken basegame CD. EA says no the game is not available, But obviously it is, for those that allready own a digital copy in their origin account. Why is it like that, EA has the game on its servers??
@simstressa , if the game was already in your Origin account prior to October 2018, the game is still there and will be available. However, EA made the decision to end the promotional give away which began in 2014/2015 to people who could show they had purchased the game.
EA made the decision to utilize their resources and money on other projects and is very aware of the fan support and requests for making a digital version either remastered or available for Windows OS.
There are thousands of posts both here and on the Official Sims Forums asking this very same question. But the bottom line is the following:
1) At this time and for the foreseeable future, EA has made the decision to not make Sims 2 Ultimate Collection available for free or for purchase on Origin.
2) They have no plans to remaster the game.
3) The game is available for purchase on Amazon, E-Bay, your local game stores that sells used copies of the game or Goodwill/Salvation Army stores.
4) If you purchase a used copy of the game, if possible, check the quality of the disk. The codes can be reused to install the game.
