Edited my original post of this thread to include some common The Sims 2 related Mac questions.
Joe.
I bought the Sims 2 for PC on launch day, I was a huge fan of the Sims back then. These days I have moved to Macs and was always dissapointed that I would have to re buy Sims 2 if I wanted to play. When this announcement came out I thought I'd finally have the chance. Turns out Sims 2 will continue to sit on the shelf, unplayed and feeling unloved.
I understand the Mac port was done by a 3rd party, will EA be speaking to them about allowing a free Mac release or are they going to not bother?

@Neufena Yes, Aspyr is the third party that have ported half of the Expansions over to the Mac. Personally, I don't think we'll see the Ultimate Collection on the Mac for these reasons: (all my own opinion, based on what we know)
1. EA hasn't ported any The Sims 2 games over to the Mac. All existing ports have been done by Aspyr. They probably don't own the rights to release it.
2. Aspyr have only ported 9/18 expansion packs. The UC on Windows has all 18.
3. They wouldn't release the existing ports as they wouldn't work on modern Macs. (You need a 3yr old OS to run them)
4. For EA to port the UC to modern Macs themselves is alot of work, to then release it for free probably wouldn't make much business sense.
5. It's the end of the games life anyway, as they're dropping support at end of the month.
