Sims Social failed. Sim City 5 failed. Sims 5, Rene, the other two inferior one's, if they go with online multi-player they will fail. Ever see episodes of people's stories where they include guest spots of other people's sims? The other players' got really upset about if their sim was not included with all their cc or looked different to their game. That will happen with an online multi-player game. People love their sims they create in their personal space and time on their own computer and when you mess with them they don't like it.
And people like to create and play their game in their personal space and time. That is one of the attractive things of the game in the first place back in Sims 2 and 3. The fact you could go offline and be in your own space, and choose to come on to the forums and share this or that about it, when it suits.
The reason I bought Sims in the first place way back in 2, was because I was in a money saving time, and had to give up the internet all together for a year. The sims were a game I could keep playing on my PC without ever having to connect to the internet. There were some glitches which the patches online I missed out on were a little annoying, but I didn't actually know they were glitches until I went online the next year and saw there was a patch/fix for this or that and people mentioning it.
I remember seeing an article about the movement of the Sims being revolutionary because of how it was developed to emulate the movement and fluidity of an amoeba. It doesn't look like those other two inferior games have that, and so they will never be better.
