Forum Discussion
- alanmichael1Seasoned HotshotTheir security emails don't arrive for me neither. I found that SMS work better.
- Welp
I have 2 accounts cause I accidentally made new one for ts4 at release and there is no way to merge the accounts
(or if there is then I feel like it could end up with me losing access to old store content or forum account which I would rather not risk either)
I really hope my ts3 account is not victim to this just because I don't log in regularly
*sighs* - BooDaBoo5New SpectatorThis is very concerning. Imagine paying potentially hundreds of dollars for your games and they're suddenly gone for "security" purposes. I hope she can get it resolved. But I feel there are too many measures being put in to prevent piracy when, let's be honest, people will always find a way around it. It's only hurting honest people who just want to play the games they payed for.
- GalacticGalSeasoned AceI am certainly very glad this didn't happen to me in Sims3. I had a catastrophic medical incident and since it was life-threatening, I decided to stop procrastinating and treat my writing as a career and not just a hobby, when I finally got home. I didn't look at my emails, I didn't scroll through the Sims forums, nor play my game until I had finished writing for the day, which meant I didn't play my game. For MONTHs. We're talking from October 2009 until January 2011. Perhaps the secret is, I never log out, I just exit the game and the App, now.
- ChadSims2Seasoned NoviceThey really need to create a better system then someone telling you to check your email that never comes. There should not be "the only way" when the only way is not working.
- MaggieMae7276Rising TravelerThat is terrible! No one should lose something they have bought and paid for because they haven't logged in enough. Real life doesn't always allow time for playing. I was always concerned when buying games became digital as I felt not having the disks and relying on the corporations might lead to something like this. I felt the corporation owns the game, not me. I bought many packs for my daughter years ago but she hasn't played as she is so into her Sims 2 families. If she loses her games because of this, I know I will never again buy a game digitally for another person. My grandson bought all the packs but mostly plays his online games, so I will have to let him know about this so he signs in now and then. Think Sims 4 will be last game. I have Sims 2 & 3 and Medieval packs so I can always play that. I don't think I will ever not log in to Sims 4 on a regular basis, but I am getting older and anything can happen. If you own all or even most of the packs, that is a loss of a lot of money!
- SprottenhamSeasoned HotshotThis is an awful practice. Not only that recovering the password doesn't work but the fact that they actually deleted someones game that they paid for. If you buy a product, it should be yours permanently, or until it breaks. A digital product can't break, as long as you have an OS that can run it, in other words: the product should be yours permanently.
This does not make me like the idea of needing to be online to play a single player game that you bought any more, not at all.
Imagine you bought a bike, then didn't use it for x amount of time, then next thing you know the store you bought it from suddenly shows up to reclaim it, because "you haven't used it in a while"... - AnonymousI’m changing my opinion on a potential Sims 5 subscription. At one point I was open to it in one form or another. Now I’m 100% against it

I never sign out either. I'm always to scared I'll not get back in again, so this issue we have now with App needing us to re-log in when we haven't in fact logged out in the first place, was a bit worrying at first. - mightyspritesimsSeasoned HotshotTbh this seems alarmist.
The poster is indeed having a hard time getting hold of EA support but EA hasn't deleted the account.
Their policy is not to delete accounts of anyone who has ever downloaded a game.
Certainly they wouldn't be capable of deleting her saves etc. since those are stored on her local machine.
I'm not that familiar with reddit but I did go to the post there and saw this reply at the top which seemed to be marked as a solution or similarI had to look this up, it’s two years of inactivity and it’s not a deletion if you have purchased anything.
Edit: To address the below comment, with the thread being locked and all that.
It looks like the OP is conflating needing to wait for the password reset to EA not helping.
The account is locked due to inactivity, not deleted.
There are also multiple reports going as far back as 2011, in which EA confirms they won’t lock an account until two years and won’t delete the account if it has been used to buy a product.
I’m not saying OP is lying, but I do think OP is misunderstanding the situation.
