- I'm with @Lenny_Ogg in this, my hotels are either generic lots (with the hotel staff getting added directly to my household as played sims) or club hangouts (with the club members being the hotel staff). My reasoning is that when I play my sims on vacation, I'm not interested in what a dozen unplayed sims does in the background, only in my own sims. Fwiw I don't even use rentals. In Sims 2 home business bars are fun, but that's different.
But technically speaking Sims 3 did hotels best, because the player had the option to not just play from the perspective of the visitor, but also the resort owner without having to jump through hoops. - BissenNess2 years agoSeasoned VeteranI can't vote because I don't know enough about Sims 3 hotels. I thought Sims 2 hotels were a dramatic improvement over The Sims. Not least because you could build a hotel anywhere with a simple cheat code. I remember creating my own vacation destination sub-neighborhood from scratch at one point.
@Lenny_Ogg how do you get other guests to check in? - Never really used hotels in TS3 I just found them rather bleh rabbitholes and when my sims vacationed they barely stayed at the lodging either they were always somewhere across the map or then they had like vacation house instead
TS1 and 2 both have their good sides but I ended up clicking TS2 because it just feels more like hotel to me
If we get hotels in TS4 I'm hoping its kind of like Dine Out and Spa Day except for hotels
like stay in and manage hotels have the hotel room service check in desks and whatever maybe elevators for new woohoo spot/space saving maybe the sims next door keep you awake like in city living or whatever lot trait/challenge things maybe theres thief who lurks at hotels maybe hotel drama and gossip
I would also like if spa day/dine out/snowy escape/ outdoor retreat... etc. items could be used on hotel lot type like maybe its hotel and restaurant maybe its spa and hotel maybe its onsen and hotel maybe its actually more of a camping thing... you know.
aand yes. hotels in every world every lot build your own - crocobaura2 years agoSeasoned AceLoved hotels in TS2 and TS1. Hated them in TS3, with the rabbit holes and and all the random numbers they generated. In TS4, I dislike the rentals. If I want my sims to stay at a nice big house with a pool, it's going to cost a lot, so renting a hotel room would be more preferable. Also, vacations are for sight seeing and relaxation, so I'd rather not have them do cooking and house chores, they can do that at home. Because of this I don't usually bother with rentals unless I need my sims to take a vacation that the game understands, other wise I just have them stay over in rooms above other venues. This works great especially if there is no TV, fridge or similar object in the room to attract other sims. This costs nothing, so sometimes I have them stock the buffet table as a way to deduct costs for them. Also, another alternative to hotels in TS4, is to use a rental but also get a butler for the duration. Not ideal, but at least you don't have to deal with cooking and house chores. It's also possible to get food via food delivery. If we get hotels again, I hope for the return of the concierge desk and option to select a room, love the room selection process. Maids would be nice and room service as well. Buffet tables with different foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner would be nice too. If we get to run hotels, I don't want any rabbit holes, I am fine with running a 1-8 room hotel. What I loved most about TS1 hotels, was how they seemed to be right in the middle of all new activities, went out of your hotel and there was a board walk with activities or a snowboard ramp, hope they bring something like that back to TS4.
- Simburian2 years agoNew TravelerI have fond memories of the hotels in Sims 2. I never used them in Sims 3 and those who think they can make hotels easily in Sims 4 obviously didn't play Sims 2. I loved making my own hotels in that.
- SEREFRAS2 years agoSeasoned VeteranI've never ever played Sims 1 or Sims 2. I've only experienced playing Sims 3 & now Sims 4. I've always loved the "Hotel" stay in my Sims 3 & still wish that Sims 4 had that. ;)
- telemwill2 years agoSeasoned AceI have to vote for Sims 2, but to be honest I haven't played the others.
I do miss the hotel experience though as it made vacations feel like vacations. Now we do get a rental with the whole family and pile in, but when I was growing up, it was hotel stays. I enjoyed vacations in Sims 2 very much. - Sara1010p2 years agoRising RookieFor me I honestly never saw a purpose to stay at the hotels in Sims 3. They were not in a vacation world you had to visit, they were right there in the world your Sims lived in. I think being able to own and run the hotel/resort was a great addition, but for staying at and taking a vacation, I loved the way Sims 2 did it much better.
- Rambley_Raccoon2 years agoSeasoned NewcomerSims 1 did hotels the best in my opinion.
- ChadSims22 years agoSeasoned NoviceBoth Sims 1 and Sims 2 had great vacation packs I loved the objects Sims 1 added like carnival games and the volleyball net while Sims 2 created so many amazing game play experiences and systems.
