Although I love multiplayer games, I got to say, I don't like solo games with a multiplayer option, like "invite your friends over". I think this works only for players who have a good portion of friends with the same playtime and schedule as them. Or streamers. Unless of course you only want to invite a friend over and make them visit your lot once, which we can sort of, almost do by sharing our builds on the gallery.
I prefer MMORPGs where we can make new friends by meeting players in game. Honestly I would love to have such a multiplayer Sims game. I guess we are not many in this case. I get fond memories from the time I played MMORPGs and I never played The Sims Online, so I don't fully get the multiplayer phobia. I'm convinced if Maxis made a new multiplayer game, it will be build on better foundations regarding the toxicity that happened on The Sims Online.
But perhaps some players just like that they can mod solo game to their heart's content. Like ultra mod them. Change the game to make it look and act so differently that it's not The Sims 4 anymore.
Given the negative reaction we always get whenever someone manifests a desire for a multiplayer option on this game, there's no way The Sims 4 could one day get that from Maxis, even if at some point it was supposed to have a multiplayer option. It is what it is. If we want a multiplayer game in the Sims franchise, we have to play another game.
Wyrmelin, it isn't a phobia, at least for me. I never played the Sims Online. I just only prefer this type of game to be single-player. The only people that I know who play it IRL are my own children. They only play it on my computer when I am not playing it. I have seen too many single-player games get destroyed as soon as they offer online multi-player options. I am an introvert, so I don't need gamer friends.
