Wordpress. How to start for very beginners.

Hi @CathyTea No worries, I read your reply earlier today but haven't had a chance to reply until now because I went to try some of your suggestions. Thank you for your help by the way! :) I ended up changing the theme to McKinley because I like it's layout better. It doesn't post everything on the home page in a grid for one thing. I also created a static home page like you suggested with a table of contents and a Welcome to the site message. I THINK it's set-up the way I wanted it to look for now, it's very barebones, but I'm hoping that'll change over time.
I do have one additional question though. In my menu 'Home' and 'Welcome' are now actually the same page. It seems a bit redundant to have both listed in there. How do I change that so only the 'Home' button shows? Or is that not possible. Thanks again for your help, I'm going to look over my site and maybe tweak a few more things, but will probably be posting my story link on the Monthly SimLits Short Story thread tomorrow or Saturday.
