To me a "post" is something you write on a page on your blog. Wordpress believes "page" and "post" are something different entirely.
A post would be any new update/chapter for your story. Those show up on the actual blog page on your site. Your other pages probably aren't blog pages, so a new post wouldn't show up there. The blog page is the place your "posts" will show up with you publish them. If you want new text/images on any other page you will have to edit it I believe.
However you could link to any post from any page. If your "Story so far" page is like a table of contents it will work very well to link to each new chapter/post that you publish.
To do that you'll have to publish it, then view your actual site (not the editor). Copy the address for your new post/chapter. Then go back to the editor and paste that link to the page on which you want it to appear.
Maybe this helps a little. I can't give any specific directions, because I don't use WordPress. So I don't know how to navigate the editor.
ETA: Oops CathyTea repsonded before I could. She's probably more helpful, since I don't use WordPress. :)
