There are bigger homes designed especially to suit this fancy area! They're available in the selection screen once you tap on the "+home" button for these lots.
You can also build any of the standard homes on these lots, and the oversized lot will leave you with a much bigger yard.
Q: I have lamps/lights in my house but it’s still dark. What’s going on?
By default, lights will stay turned off until one of your Sims or pets enters the room. If you would like your lights to stay on, tap the light and choose the “Turn on” option.
Q: How do I build new rooms or move walls to edit my current ones?
To edit the structure of your home, navigate to the furniture store by tapping this icon:
To change the size of an existing room, tap and hold on the wall you wish to move, then drag it to your desired spot.
You can also add rooms by tapping on an unoccupied space on the lawn, then sliding your finger to draw the dimensions for the new room. If something is in the way and you cannot build there, the outline will appear red. Again, tap the green tick to confirm your purchase and place the room. The new room does not need to be connected to the main house, but don't forget to add a door either way!
To delete a room entirely, simply tap the room you wish to delete while in build mode and tap the red Simoleon symbol. Before doing so, you may wish to move any items within the room to your inventory so they are not lost!

Q: How do I move furniture to my inventory or sell it back to the store?
To move items to your inventory, enter Build Mode and select the Furniture or Inventory tabs. Then tap the piece of furniture or decoration in question, and choose the grey knapsack icon. The item will remain in your inventory so that you can place it somewhere else at no cost.
If you no longer want certain items or just want to cash them in to help pay for better stuff, enter Build Mode and select the Furniture or Inventory tabs. Then tap the piece of furniture or decoration in question, and choose the red Simoleon icon to sell the item and return the displayed number of Simoleons to your balance.
Q: How can I move furniture around in a room?
In Build Mode, while working in the Furniture or Inventory settings, tap any item to open its menu. If you tapped the wrong thing, use the green check icon to leave that item untouched in its original location.
Want to try facing the sofa toward the window instead of the TV? Use the grey arrow icon to rotate the item so you can choose a new orientation for it.
If you move the item to a new spot or rotate it, use the green check icon to close the menu and keep the new placement of the item.
Q: How do I add more stories/floors to my Sim’s house?
First, you must complete the Multi-Story Renovations Quest to unlock this ability. If you have done so, you will notice new tabs have been added to your panel in Build Mode, such as Floor Construction. On tablets, select “House” first, then the Floor Construction tab (next to the Rooms tab). Tap on the blue outline that appears on the roof of your home to select your new floor, then tap the green check to confirm your construction choice.
After you add a floor, the rooms menu will automatically open. Tap on a section of the grid and drag out your selection, then tap the green check to confirm the construction of your new room. Thick white outlines highlight the layout of the rooms in the floor below the one you are currently working with.
Q: How do I switch between floors?

Q: Now that I have multiple floors, how do I make my Sims go upstairs?
First, you will need to add stairs. Open the Home Store and select the Stairs icon. Once you select a staircase that you like, place it in a room on the first floor of the two that you would like to connect.
If there is an object on the upper floor where you are trying to place the stairs, the outline of this object on the upper floor will flash, warning you that you must move an object out of the way first or place the staircase elsewhere.
Once you have installed your staircase, select the Sim you want to send upstairs, then tap on the staircase and select “Use Stairs.” Alternatively, you can also tap anywhere on the connected floor and the active Sim will automatically use the stairs to go there.
