how do i negotiate with a sim eating plant?

I am currently on the alien Osiris mission and it is asking me to negotiate with a sim eating plant. And I have done everything I can think of doing. Any ideas? Thanks

Keep planting lettuce until you get a man eating plant and the tap on it.
