Problem with menu greying out when trying to purchase magazines

I am playing The Sims Freeplay. I have just started the teen quest The Road to Fame and the first quest is to purchase a stack of magazines.  But the menu is greyed out and I cannot access or buy an...

    Just to be sure @Pepperpot8, even the stack of magazines is greyed out? I believe the stack of magazines should be the only available item in the store for that part of the quest.

You need to put the magazines on a table. Either coffee or dining table will work
