Puppy won't drop chew toy

Throw a piece of bacon next to him. Bacon always wins.

I had the same issue. The lobster was dropped when I returned to the home after closing the game and then reopening it. Hope this works for you too.

No luck, I have the same problem with two different puppies. They run or walk and they hold it like normal, then they stop and it looks like its a deformation coming out of their head.

If you have tried rebooting your device and closing/restarting the game and nothing has worked, then you might want to contact support.
