Yep, same problem here. The only way I overcame it (without resorting to LP) was by turning my iPad screen lock off, plugging it in so it didn't run out of charge, and just leave sims open on the swimming pool for the 3.5 hours. It seems every time you either close the app or even go to another area of the city it comes up with that error. It worked once anyway, and I've got to do it *again* to complete the 'it's going swimmingly task' which quite frankly isn't going swimmingly, and seems never ending at the moment. Good luck!
