Sims freeplay crashes

My sims freeplay started crashing a while back and now it still does sometimes, causing me to lose all progress in actions, career places and events. I'm afraid I won't be able to finish the arts and crafts event on time and it also stings that my Sims are at 14/15 in their career place and I have to start all over again. Can I do something to prevent this in the future?
