Sims won't go to work after sending them.

Like the title says, I'm having an issue where I'm sending my sims to work but they're not going. I usually will send all but a couple of my sims to work, close out the game, come back to play sometime later and none of the ones I sent to work have gone and still have their briefcases flashing and I'm not gaining any simoleons. It's very frustrating and I've made sure the game is updated and cleared the cache but it's still happening. If anyone has any thoughts on what I should do, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
