Question About Maker Packs

Please help!  I'm confused about Maker Packs.  Are they Custom Content?  I don't use CC or mods in my game, and there are several builds in the Gallery I'm interested in downloading, but they use Maker Packs.  Are they the same as, for example, Kits that we would purchase from EA?  Any info would be very much appreciated.  Thank you!

  • I think it depends on perspective. They have to adhere to Maxis/EA/Sims 4 standards, but IMHO they are just still just CC/Creator Content (I don't even get Creator Content Kits). But if you bought/like the Creator Content Kits, you might be able to have/like Maker Content Kits.

I can almost immediately tell something is Marker/Creator Content/CC and not official Maxis/Sims 4 content. I remember the first time looking through kits before I knew some were Creator Content, and pretty much 99% of the Creator Content Kits I was like "this just looks like CC" just to find out it basically was.

CC/Creator Content/Maker Content just always looks off to me (not to say I am not impressed with the effort, I mean I am impressed at the work, it just isn't for me), but I am someone who notices more than I should (IRL people just say I have a creative/artist eye LOL).

Thank you for your reply.  I appreciate the information.

I wish it wasn't all so convoluted, and they just made all the packs the same.  I have purchased the Creator Content Kits because the way they were marketed it seemed like they were basically the same thing as regular Sim 4 kits, and are not Custom Content (of the sort that gets messed up with updates sometimes), and I like and use a lot of the items in them.  Still, I'm leery of the Maker Packs.

I think I'll just wait a while and see how people like them, and whether there are any issues that come up.

    Thank you so much again!

Hello LittleLeota, simple answer is no they are not Custom Content. They are officially curated items made by Custom Content creators using officially provided tools by Maxis and are treated as official items in the game. I would class anything you download externally via Patreon, Curseforge, ModTheSims ect as Custom Content and not officially approved items.

    Thank you!

Knowing they aren't externally downloaded makes sense, and I'm glad to know they're treated as official items.  That really helps.  Do you know if they go into the Mods folder when you download them?  I would rather not have to do all the steps to remove the mods folder etc. when there's an update.

They do not go into the mods folder since they are not CC, again Maker Packs are officially curated items that are added into your game and are treated just like Kits, Stuff Packs, Game Packs and Expansion Packs. 😊
