Reposting - Sims Marketplace is a Money Grab. How do Simmers cope?

Reposting this because it got taken down which I felt was unfair. This topic is a VITAL PART OF EVERYONE'S GAMEPLAY FOR THE FUTURE AND DESERVES A SPOTLIGHT.

I want to start this discussion by saying that I support those that create CC / Mods for the Sims. I have been a participant of using CC since Sims 2 (playing since The Sims) and I know how HARD those that create for this franchise to be more expansive, creative, and more well-rounded.

THAT BEING SAID.

Sims 4 Marketplace and their new Makers program is a RIDICULOUS MONEY GRAB.

DO WE NOT (AS SIMMERS) continue to purchase into a franchise that hasn't done nearly enough upgrading a game over 10 years old?

Is there a reason this team doesn't focus on repairing, remodeling, and remolding what they've created to be better, more functional, and more enjoyable for those that have invested into this franchise?

Isn't the Merch store enough for them? Isn't our continued pre-purchases, kit purchases (for SO FEW ITEMS WITH LITTLE TO NO FUNCTIONALITY), etc. not enough?????

Now we must buy "Sims currency" in order to feel like we have the full capacity of this game?

Is no one upset?

Has my fandom, love, and investment not been enough for you to not turn into a corporate devil that's looking to drain my pockets in a world built against the average person?

Sims used to be a franchise I loved that helped me escape and realize dreams the real world can't provide for many of us for a multitude of reasons.

Now, it just feels like the Sims is selling out and needs my name on the dotted line.

I won't sign.

I'm tired of sinking funds into a franchise that only seems to care about my enjoyment without respecting the input of those that dedicate hours and YEARS to plying the Sims.

Everything doesn't need a paywall or a subscription.

We should be able to enjoy the game we've purchased without feeling excluded because funds aren't enough to get the newest latest thing that THEY HAVEN'T EVEN CREATED!!!

Just because they're working with Creators doesn't mean they aren't just trying to get paid too. They're upset that a lot of their influencers and Sims creators aren't happy with them and they're looking for someone else to buy something from them just to ignore the problem.

This isn't the franchise I grew up with.

These aren't the adventures I want to play anymore.

I'm hoping people see this and see the forest for the trees as it were.

They're distracting from the issue at hand and while I have loved this franchise for so long, I cannot continue to support things that don't align with my values.

We deserve better gaming.

Thank you to those that previously responded to my post. I have edited it to avoid violating guidelines. May this discussion enlighten those creating for us players.

I do not use free CC, so why would I buy it?

Official Maxis stuff, well I don't even want to buy kits (only have what came with R&L) as I feel they are a rip off (the limited bundles I almost did, but I rather make my own bundles).

I also shy away from the idea of getting content creator kits, as they IMHO do not match official content, which reminds me of CC, which I don't use.

In my eyes I think it will always be CC. I can't even consider buying existing Creator Kits, which I also consider CC (let alone this Maker content), I just find they lack the cohesion of non-official content too annoying.

I mean even if if was a literal ex-Maxis creator, if it at all feels like if doesn't fit with official content swatch wise, the compression issues with the other creator kits, etc. I just will see CC. But if they do something sneaky like official content just re-swatched and/or patterned, I'll be not happy, that should be free!

I don't know if I am just extra picky, or sensitive, or just the kneejerk feeling when you accuse things for being "AI" generated even when it might not be. When Sims content starts to look too uncanny valley (IMO)—I am just turned off.

Honestly, Kits made it really easy to not buy in Sims 4 since there is no CAStyle or really unique premium items/objects. Even the most tempting Kit I have waited out for for cheaper prices/bundles, but now it looks like it is just going the other direction... more expensive and awkward to get.
