This is the closest I've ever seen anyone come to saying "you know what the problem with this game is? Poor people can have just a much fun with it as I can!" I get that you have money burning a hole in your pocket and are frustrated at the lackof really cool things that can only be gotten for real money, but for some of us, that's why we play this game.

So ... this is my (personal) issue with your suggestion. While the majority of the userbase is likely to be able to afford $10 here and there, a monthly subscription comes out to $120/yearly. Again, this is for a mobile game. A mobile game that is already having issues with longevity and retention, judging by the complaints about not being able to contact other players to trade sims. And I do not want to spend what is the financial equivalent of multiple Stuff Packs, a Game Pack and an EP for the infinitely more customizable desktop game on a mobile game that can, for all intents and purposes, play itself if you direct the characters correctly. I would also have a big problem with paying additional moneys to be guaranteed premium items when the game's current economy is what it is. I just realized that I have two sims in a household working at level 10 jobs who still cannot afford to buy a full suite of even mid-range furniture, let alone higher-end items. There are single clothing items that cost more than entire basic sets of collections. There are single game items that are priced at 1/4 or higher of the cost of a $10 premium cash pack. Until that is changed (or simcash becomes a bit easier to come by), I'm really not too interested in a subscription package.
Now, if the developers want to put out more simcash/premium token packs, I'm all for those. I purchased the last two offered (cupcake + cash, Izzy tokens + cash) and have no complaints.- Anonymous8 years agoDespite you saying you have an issue with my suggestion, you agreed. Retention does seem to be a problem, and the grind does seem to be comparable to Pokemon go. Prices do get worse as you reach end game with land expansions costing 30,000+ simloneans.
But the focus shouldn't be on trying to afford items, but on completing stories.- Anonymous8 years agoSyarun, while I agree in principle with you on your Section B suggestions, I seriously doubt many will be implemented. As a 40+ year programmer and manager, I can tell you that what might seem easy may be very difficult to implement in a way that pays back. Sad fact, EA is not out to make a game we love to play, especially in the mobile space; they are out to maximize profit. Also, subscriptions don't make money... RNG loot boxes, scale-up costs that encourage Real Money purchase, and "cosmetic" (Pay2Win) micro-transactions are how they hook the whales.
I'm enjoying this game a lot, expect to put some time into it, but I don't think I'll be playing it very hard (if at all) in a year's time.
