How do I start a new relationship story with my BFF Sims?

I have completed the BFF relationship with my roommate Sims, and I would like to turn their friendship into a romantic relationship. I have tried having them flirt with each other, but that hasn't opened up any options to start a new relationship story. The only romantic option I get is to propose, which seems kind of abrupt since right now they're just friends. I don't know if this is a glitch or what. Does anyone have an answer or any ideas I can try? Thanks.

Your Sims can only have one story with another Sim. So best thing is just to move forward with the relationship story as is.

@thecakeisaLIE82 I had 2 Sims that were BFFs and reached level 10 in their relationship. The next option was to propose. I guess they did all the friendly stuff and they needed their relationship to move onto the next level. 😊😉
