Omg! The same thing happened to me! I'm a level 60 been playing since day one. The game has been crashing on me for the past days. I also unistalled the game then did the tutorial. Then it detected I have an account on the cloud. I clicked to download and a glitch happened. It loaded one of my sims but her head was floating. Also I'm now stuck at level 4. I have lost all of my sims, my houses, my coins, cash, and stuff. I've been trying to contact support by email and chat and they don't seem to be able to help me. They keep me going in circles. I really need help tp retrieve my account please!
The incident is exactly the same as mine! it seems the recovery is not perfect. There are some parts that are recovered and some are not. Then, when I click on the event that I have previously worked on (on my previous lvl 36 account), the application errors and closes itself. I have made a case to EA Help, but until now there has been no answer.

I hope you get some information. I have opened some cases. The first chat they said I needed troubleshooting but didn't transfer me and instead wanted me to go back to the game and click Help. Which takes me back to the same site I chatted with the first advisor. I tried the email from the google play store but it's just an automated service. They send you to the help section or the forums. It seems there is no way to get an actual person to troubleshoot the issue! 😞Are there any mods that have an answer??
