Retired Sim Stuck in Event: Need to Divorce

I didn’t see the divorce function prior to retiring my sim otherwise I would have done it in a better order. It’s too late now! What I want to do now is use my active sim, who the retired sim is married to, to initiate a divorce. The “divorce” event is greyed out on the retired sim, and it says that sim is in an event. I have tried logging out and back in, closing and reopening the app… nothing so far.

This is for sims mobile, it is updated and IOS is also running the latest update!
