Yes, they will appear in the family portrait in Previous generation section.
If you move them out in the family portrait, you can still socialize with them and they will still appear in the town. However, once it is time for them when the game forces them to move out, they'll just disappear with the stories related to them. The position in family portrait may change after that moment.

Thank you :). I've done that, but my game says that there is no room in my household to move a sim in as a husband to one of my active sims. I now only have six in the household, so does anyone know why I can't move him in?? The player whose sim he is wants him moved out but I can't get the option to do it! The relationship is at level 8 and they're married!! All three active slots are filled at the moment, with the sim who just got married, and her aunt and uncle.
