This is a reply I have given a couple of other players. Hope it will be of some help to you as well:

There are a lot of bugs in the game at the moment. Many of them came at the same time as the seasonal task message got stuck in the upper left corner of the screen (workaround: go to a party). Hopefully they will all disappear in the next update of the app.

BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT REINSTALL YOUR GAME. This has given a number of players more serious problems. AND DON’T MAKE ANY OF YOUR SIMS PASSIVE (or change from passive to active), as this has caused some players to loose their Sim. Or create ghost Sims - passive Sims that you cannot interact with or remove.

A group of bugs seem to be connected to the Sim’s ability to teleport when asked to do something. This can affect romantic events (not being able to go to the cafe when asked to start a cafe event), friendships (if you meet a friend in the city centre and you try to start a friendship event from there, nothing will happen - both your Sim and your friend need to be at home to start such events) and challenges.

In the Sweet treat Showdown the teleporting issue means that the challenge button in the overview will not work. Therefore you need to first move your Sim to the event location, then start the event.

Go to the Park side to start the Baking challenge against other chefs.

Go home to start the long Baking at home event.

Go to the Restaurant at the Market place to start the Baking course.

Go to the Science centre at the Coastal side to start the Flavor laboratory.
