The shirts are in the style -apparel -tops section of CAS. The free male shirt is in the midst of the ones that require simcash /coins.
The female shirt is just before the level locked tops.

If you have now played the game, the shirts and rug will be automatically added to your game. Try going into build mode, and see if you can find the rug. It may be in the storage section. That is the section with the picture of the storage box on it.

No but I just did to my new one

I am so sorry :( but the free gift was only being given to simmers who logged onto the game in the first 15 days of the worldwide release. It would not be given now, as that time has now passed :(

Try coming out of the app then shutting down the device that you are playing the game on. Then restart the device, open the app,and see if the issue remains. You can only give the stickers to the sims that belong to other simmers.

Played for a bit yesterday and really had fun. Do we absolutely need to have friends in game?

It's not a requirement currently. It sure adds to the fun factor communicating with others!
