It's random. In the gaming industry it is called a loot box. Gaming companies love them because they entice you to spend real money for a small chance at the big prize. Most game players hate them.
I got the hot tub on my second "box" of that event. It's all just luck and random numbers.

[feedback] For me, a new chest or 50 event coins or event 25 event coins would have been a kinder reward for opening a box which had an item in it that I already had instead of the payout of 200 simoleons and some green tickets that you get. Takes no time to make 200 simoleons and green tickets but depending on how many chests you open which contain doubles you can easily lose a full day + of event coins.

Re: loot boxes, I donโt get motivated by them much at all. They are just super frustrating. I did, however, spend real $$ on the ASOS events because the goals and prizes were something I wanted and the outcome was clear (time crazy notwithstanding, but I could buy sim bucks to speed that up rather than just waste $ on potentially nothing). For the same reason lottery tickets arenโt even the least bit tempting to me irl.I agree, Loot boxes don't motivate me, they make me irritated. I also spent on the ASOS event.

I agree, but at least it is better than the last time when they used loot boxes (the hot tub event). In that one a duplicate gave you 2 of the event ducks. I think they should eliminate the possibility of duplicates..If you get one it should re-randomize until you get something you don't have.

FINALLY!!! ๐
- Anonymous8 years agoYippee!!! Party at Paโs house! Iโll be wearing my cool new pants! Bellamy even changed her naturally aqua green hair to blond to not clash with her pants. Sheโll change it back before babies though!

Wow, I'm up to 186 of 1700 coins. That means that at this rate, I'll finish in about 10 days. Good thing there are 11 days left. <end sarcasm>
- Anonymous8 years agoI got that dress from Izzy in yellow. Itโs fun but you definitely need to pin it for the color you want Vintage Starlettes!
Ok, after waiting all that time for the pants, I got them 3 times in a row. So, green tickets instead. Useless! I didnโt know what yโall meant by the green ticket thing until now. Boo.
Seems like the loot is almost anti-random. Nearly everything I have gotten it has been 3 of the same boxes in a row after another. All poufs, then all loveseats, then all tapestries, then all pants. I think the little shirt is the only thing I have gotten only once. Bug? - PaQuilter18 years agoHero (Retired)
@mamabearboys I've come to the conclusion we can't rush it. Once we get something new, we may as well wait until the next day to try again. The bubble machine was the last thing I needed and it took SIM Cash to finally unlock it. Now I have to collect the 1700 coins to get the door. ๐๐
- Anonymous8 years agoOoh, good tip! One box a day- I can do that!
- 8 years ago@mamabearboys @PaQuilter1 Congratulations, you two! It's funny, but a victory for one is a victory for all. I know how great it feels when you get something you really, really, REALLY want, and I'm so happy for you!
@mamabearboys Do your Izzy pins save for a return visit, or should I make sure I have enough gems to retry several times in one visit? Great! Now I'm obsessed with getting THAT dress! ๐ค
@BlueWizardRob I nominate you for "The Most Helpful Forum Member" for the month of May. ๐๐ ๐๐๐ - 8 years ago@mamabearboys Well, I gave Izzy 10 tries. He offered me the $?&#@ braided bracelet 4x, but NO dress. ๐
I did get a winged supersuit that I would cheerfully offer to @BlueWizardRob, if that were an option. I must have a heart-to-heart with Karma. - 8 years ago
pins don't save. ๐ข
- 8 years agoHA! Of course they don't! That would be too generous! [sarcasm]

So you need the rug which I don't think I even have for the bubble blower?
No, you need the rug to get some of the color choices and action choices for the bubble blower.

Like? I have the bubble blower and 3 poof chairs.

@pepperjax1230 I have the red rug in the Den and the bubble blower on the back "terrace" and the bubbler still has all the options. I wish the rug and loveseat came in different colors too but my Den was red with green touches so it works too. At least the rug has gold tones too. ๐๐
