@billiethesun I'm selfish that way, too. I haven't been playing long enough to really have much of a friends list, but the stickers and points are definitely the main motivator for me. I figure the more I earn in-play, the less real money I'll spend!
And I agree with you re: hosts pushing to level 10. I've hosted fewer parties than you can count on one hand, but it just felt like the right thing to do, maxing out the party level. Which brings up another tip...
*** I wait to host a party when I know I'll be free for a while so I can concentrate on giving out stickers and leveling the party to 10.
I also wait a few hours before joining parties to see if any of my friends are hosting. However, I haven't played long enough to get a feel for when most parties begin.

These are excellent tips! I also noticed that birthday parties offer more props for group interactions. I don't know if that makes any difference, but it's nice to be able to gather a group to sing or toss snacks.
I hosted a concert party on a Sunday. BAD DAY for participation, but it was the only time I had to play. So I started going through my contacts lists per Sim and clicking on "socialize" under their photos. I lured them to the party that way, but I'm sure I only got "factory" Sims that don't actually belong to people. It wasn't happening for me after the first couple of contacts walked up on the sidewalk. A while later there was a cluster of all the Sims I had asked to socialize with, standing down the street! It was kinda funny, but they eventually made it into the house after I interacted with them and helped me level the party up to 10. It took FOREVER.
I also noticed that during a party if you click on a Sim and view their homes, it drives Sims out of your house. They eventually come back, but it takes a while. Frustrating!
- themummyof48 years agoSeasoned AceIt's awful when the party gets cancelled, you just get an error message saying the party is no longer valid... it means you can't talk to anyone, or see other people's Sims that were supposed to come to the party... you get the money though...
I am absolutely paranoid now, so I level up to ten as fast as I can, without leaving the house/game...- 8 years ago@themummyof4 That's excellent advice. That way, you can be sure your guests get their awards, too. 👍
- 8 years ago@Mahvelush (LOVE your username. Truly. It's so lux.) So Sundays are slow! I've made a mental note of that. I noticed the game video ads usually appear right before business hours and around 7-8 pm in my time zone. I figure EA would only choose those times because of optimal usership, so I wonder if those would be the best times to begin a party?
And as you said--I also noticed group activities award slightly more, including one-on-one interaction, as opposed to interacting with party items and such.
As a host, I try to give every guest a sticker, even if the theme doesn't match their Sim. I've even tried to ask others which sticker they needed the most, since 6 or more in a category earns max gems. So far, no one has responded, so I just give them a sticker at random.

How do you know if your friends are hosting parties? I haven't been playing that long and just hit "Find Parties".
Everyone has been giving some great ideas for their parties. Thank you so much.

Hi, @rmw8855! You'll receive in-game notifications when anyone in your friends list begins a party. You can usually recognize it as a red asterisk. Then you'll know to check the party tab in the pull-out menu.
You can also keep an eye on the Week Party Board/Schedule.

Many of us here at AHQ like to post our parties ahead of time so friends can arrange to attend.
Note: To attend an AHQ member's party, you must be connected as friends in-game BEFORE the party starts in order to have access. Hope this helps!
