Why can’t I buy more tables for the restaurant?

One of my Sims is in the Culinary career. I can buy more chairs for the restaurant, but no more tables. Why? My barista Sim can purchase tables for the coffee shop. So why can’t the restaurant have mo...

I had this same thought!! I found I could move the large table outside and attach the chairs to it, if I empty the patio first. Yet I still cannot buy more tables for inside. I think it's silly. You have a rather sparse restaurant but an over crowded fashion/ASOS/photography carriers placed just next door.
