PTE's can be reset at any time.
Sometimes they do a complete reset, so although the name stays the same all progress and resources are wiped off and all players need to rejoin. This last happened last year, the last time was somewhere around October if I remember correctly.
Sometimes the they do a simple reset where the resources you have in the resources tab stay and you need to rejoin. This is the most common reset they do now. This has been done this year, after the fortress fell a few times from the Christmas reset (which was the same type of reset). It was done this way 96 days ago. With this reset the world name stays the same, the Hall of Fame is wiped but if you kill the fortress there is no new badge as the system behaves as if it was the old world where you got a badge. New badges are only issued to accounts that don't have a PTE badge.
When will the next reset be and what type will it be?
I don't know but would like it to be a complete reset rather than the partial ones we've had the last few times. I expect it to be reset when they are ready to test 17.5 on the PTE, but as it is the summer period it could still be a few weeks away due to vacations.
