Solved

Dear Developers, please have a look: NEGATIVE PING!

My instance of game can't find datacenter even after 30 minutes.

If you click at "DATA CENTER: SEARCHING" label, there is a list of all available datacenters and ping to them.

Well, in my case the ping is -1 (minus one).

Behold screenshot of this behavior: http://i.imgur.com/H56TExE.png

Trying to find the culprit, I "repaired" the game, removed my router, turned off my firewall and antivirus. Nothing helped.

So - is that some connectivity prolem on my site? Can't get to activation server or something?

Here's a screenshot showing Titnfall's netwotk activity, while it's trying to find datacenter: http://i.imgur.com/KAwvjyG.png

Is it ok? Please, may I have some IPs to traceroute to make sure problem is not on my side (or to make sure it is).

EA chat support told me that to post here is the best way to get devs' attention. Well, let's see.

And the (temporary) solution is to uninstall Agnitum Outpost firewall, not just disable it.

After that game works like a charm.

I guess you could say that... if the game could at least be played!

But it can't find a datacenter no matter for how long it tries.

  • Developer(s),

I have the exact same issue happening right now. I went ahead and disabled my firewall/AV, disabled PeerBlock, and still every single datacenter is showing with a '-1' ping status. I flushed DNS and renewed but that made no difference. I would appreciate a solution to this or at least someone to actively look into this. I will work with them so that they understand the issue better by looking at a real example of it. 🙂

Very frustrating after having playing the Beta with no issue and now this happening.

    Thanks,

    Pinging ec2-54-213-149-203.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com
    32 bytes of data:
    General failure.

    General failure.

    Ping statistics for 54.213.149.203:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

Reinstalling the game. Might as well try right? I hope that the Harbringers advice to wait for the patch isn't the only answer that comes of this. That would be silly.

    ----------

Didn't work unfortunately. I am open to suggestions at this point.

Try to uninstall firewall, if only temporarily. Worked for me.

As for pinging ec2-54-213-149-203.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com, it wouldn't work anyway, because ping is checking for port 80, and those servers are running https protocol, thus use port 443.

  • Ill give that a shot tonight (uninstall firewall) and update with a status.

So since you un-installed your computers firewall, you can now see ping time's for the DataCenters?

Yes. I see the ping and can actually play.

    First uninstall FW, then reboot.

  • Yeah I just un-installed and rebooted my machine but still have the negative ping showing up in the list of datacenters.

Im gonna look at my routers settings and make sure that nothing is blocking anything. is there any particular port that should be open for this game?

  • So I figured out what was wrong and it had nothing to do with the game.

Food for thought for people whoe experience this in the future, it's because the IP addresses and or ports are being blocked.

I thought that PeerBlock was turned off but I was mistaken, it was aggresivley blocking all outgoing traffic to Microsoft.

    Game On! 😉

Well, that's EXACTLY what was meant by disabling/uninstalling firewall. 'Cause Peerblock is a firewall, right? Wikipedia says so 🙂
