Game Locks Up Entire Computer, Distorted Sound

So I've been having issues recently with the game crashing my computer.  It will lock up a few different ways.  Sometimes it just locks up out of nowhere, but most of the time what I experience is the sound becoming really distorted and skipping and just random noises trying to come through then the game eventually locks up my entire computer and forces a hard reset.  I've even tried to close down the game really quickly when I begin hearing the sound go, but it'll freeze on the way out.

I had this issue with the Beta and currently.  During launch week I was able to put in about 8 hours of gameplay with zero crashes or issues, but all of sudden the issues have been coming back.

I have tried updating all the drivers, getting rid of NVIDIA Experience and doing a clean driver reinstall, I've tried it with EVGA Precision on and off, I've tried it with ESET on Gamer Mode on and off, and even in selective start up with only my drivers selected and still no luck.  I've defragged and ran Malware Bytes, all clean.  I tried to chat with EA directly, we ran a game repair, unplugged all the USB devices, and he checked my DXDiag and all was fine.  The game eventually crashed and I lost contact since I had to restart.

The one thing I did notice was odd was today while playing I was on Skype with a friend.  When the system locked up, I was unable to Alt-Tab, CTRL-Alt-Delete, or anything else but I was still able to talk to him through Skype for a few minutes after everything had locked up.

I'm out of ideas, anyone have any other suggestions?  I started getting optimistic when I was able to run 8 hours with zero crashes during launch week, but now the problem has resurfaced.

System specs:

Windows 7 64 Bit

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 (stock settings)

8 GB RAM

GTX 560 TI SC (334.89 driver) (stock settings, other than Precision to keep the fans running correctly)

Thanks in advanced.

*edit*

Forgot to mention I had originally thought overheating was an issue.  CPU doesn't get above 60C and GPU stays low 60s.  I replaced thermal paste on both and got a larger CPU Cooler and replaced all the intake/outflow fans and cleaned everything free of dust.

  • Can you both please upload an msinfo or DxDiag? pastebin is appreciated.

DxDiag: press th Windows Key and R at the same time and type dxdiag then hit enter. click the button at the bottom of the window that pops up that says "run 64 bit dxdiag" then click "save all info". save the file to your desktop as dxdiag.txt.

    directions for msinfo:

win 7: type msinfo32 into the start search box and hit enter. next click file > export and save it to your desktop as msinfo.txt.

    win 8: same

hopefully this will tell us 1: if you both have anything in common, 2: your drivers, and 3: any conflicts that may be happening.

upload one or both to a new paste on pastebin and provide the link here.

I have the same issue, only my computer does not freeze, just the sound gets distorted.

This is the same sound issues I have, but mine does eventually lead to a freeze shortly after.  Most of the time that's how most of my freezes happen, sometimes it freezes out of nowhere.

Here are the DXDiag and MSInfo files:

Found a new driver, thought it was a potential resolve.  Upgraded to 335.23, unfortunately it is still crashing.

  • Are you using your on-board sound from your motherboard? or do you have a sound card from Realtek? If you are using just the onboard sound, i recommend you uninstall/disable any programs like razer synapse surround and go to the Asus site for the latest audio driver. You may also want to take a close look at your sound devices and uninstall/disable any that arent nessecary and make sure that your real sound device is selected as your primary output device.

setting output device: right click speaker in the windows task bar by the clock, click playback devices, select the appropriate device and click "set default" at the bottom.
