How to get badges for frontier defense Mode？

A badge appeared on my friend's titan In the last few games, my friend mentioned that he found a button in the game that causes a badge to appear on the left arm of his titan, the pattern seems to...

    I found a description for this "badge" or "shoulder plate", it needs to be purchased and can no longer be purchased after September 2017

    But I still don't know how this thing came about, I only bought this game in 2020 and didn't buy any dlc other than "prime titan"

    Maybe there is some connection between this and the recent DDOS attack

@Sister__SaraIII update:I found something in the changelog for version 1.10，“GAME IMPROVEMENTS

The purchasable Frontier Defense shoulder plate can now be applied to Prime Titans and all skins, and can be toggled on or off in the loadout menu.”
Does this badge need to be bought at the store? But I didn't find any dlc that contains this part
