Yes.. its worked for me also.
Also had to reinstall patch twice now. Even though I disabled auto Origin updates and Game updates it will ask to update origin sometimes when you start Origin. If you do ..it gives you the problem again of ORIGIN OVERLAY DISABLED and you to have to go through the whole process again with the patch.
Origin will you roll back the last Origin update until you can get this fixxed.

every time I go into Origin as it tries to update ...even though ive deactivated auto updates for games and origin.

....according to EA support they know about it and are working on it...i know ... im still laughing to Looks like the latest Origin update has fixed it ...
