- I didn't do the math either, but it doesn't surprise me.
I got it because its another item in my town that is different.
I like variety. HWick_Bluenose wrote:
Waste of money in my view. I'm assuming no tasks either.
You assume correctly.wsjm1984 wrote:
BUT for the people who do surely a 7% bonus is ridiculous? You could buy 7 Police cars for 280 Donuts and get a 14% bonus.
If you're just interested in the multiplier, you could have spent 300 donuts into one of the Sipmsons Snowmen, which gives 2% for 20 donuts. That was the very best multiplier for donuts investment I've ever seen. So, 300 donuts would be 30% which is more than 4 times the multiplier you get for the whale.
I think the whale is a very nice item which I would like to have, but certainly not for 300 donuts... ;)
I read somewhere, that EA makes a lot of money from completists, or a small number people that invest large sums into this game. I think these expensive items are addressed to this section of costumers. I am OK with that. I am willing to invest some money, but I know I won't purchase all items. Therefore I have to decide what item is worth it to me, and which one is not. The decision for the whale is quite clear... ;)- Well, I blew 14 bucks for much worse than a game that I enjoy daily since months and that keeps me entertained (I actually cant say that about any other game I have ever played so far).
Dont go for pure logic when buying (like whats your mulitplier or how decorative it is). Think of it as redeeming yourself for something that you did that week/month. Buying just becaus of is probably not the right thing and wont make you happy. - dcacooperNew Spectator

I think it is very likely that the kind of player you are describing there will be way beyond worrying too much about in-game income/XP and multiplier, so 7% or 20% won't matter if the item itself appeals to them.
I am not a completist by any stretch, but it is just starting to dawn on me that I probably don't need to worry too much about multiplier anymore, having gone from less than $1m in in-game cash at the start of the Christmas event to over $5.5m (and growing every day) now.
I'm still not ready to blow 300 donuts on one item yet though!
:D - So it is wrong that i bought the Whale??
I have to have every item tho i've been playing almost 2years now so not to buy something new is very difficult not too  NeoSEC28 wrote:

Are u having a whale off a time playing this game - I got the whale
But it would've been cool if it gave the Sea Captain a new task sky-horse401 wrote:

this is how EA sees completionists
i've bought things for this game but 300 doughnuts for something that does nothing much but a fancy animation and 7% bonus?
it's basically $20 for 300 doughnuts.. granted less if you buy more but the point remains that's it's a massive rip off for something that doesn't add a new premium character with a building questline and tasks
honestly it seems like even if they made something 2400 doughnuts ($100) that people will still buy it.NeoSEC28 wrote:

Not in my opinion. I actually had to call my wife during lunch break to stop her from buying it just so that I can be there when we get it hahaha
