I think you've hit the nail on the head. If Krustyland were added to the current map, the size of the program would be too big to be acceptable to most users. With Kustryland a different map, only one needs to be loaded at a time. Yes, it takes time to switch from one to the other, but the resource requirements to keep it all in one map would mean either that devices with limited memory couldn't run it or that overall performance would suffer noticeably.
