Accidental house tapping
There is an option to turn it off. Open up the build menu and tap the "i" in the top right corner, then check the box for confirm donut spending.

While I understand the frustration and annoyance the OP's idea that no one would ever speed a house is not true. In addition to speeding a build I recall speeding a couple house regeneration times last Christmas because they regenerated Santa coins. I was desperate to get a few more. Though again generally that is not the case
