I'm hoping the Christmas update will include the arrival of Santas Little Helper on Christmas Day itself. If EA want to stay faithful to the story arc of the game perhaps SLH could arrive as a gift after Homer loses at Springfield Downs.

Technically, there are already pets in the game:

Bart Raven,
Burns Monster,
Krusty Doll

EDIT: removed Aztec God from this list. My original intention was equating pets with NPC's. I'll agree that equating that one in the domesticated context was wrong.

The other three are interactive though and I enjoy them all as a Simpsons style pet.

For the record, I am not a fan of cutsie Zynga style games with their cutsie critters.

Really? The only one of these four that could remotely be considered a pet would be Bart Raven. Or am I missing something again?

Yep. They are animated decorations at best.

Yeah but I just missed the Halloween update and didn't get anything to do with Halloween :(

I wouldn't find any use for them.
