No, you just have to delete them as they come.

I recently had one person that was not playing anymore so I tried to remove them from within the game but couldn't so yes, it does happen. The solution is to remove them from within the Origin exe PC program.
Edit: Assuming they show up in your list of friends within the exe :wink:
