- Great day for us Aussies and Kiwis. I don't expect people from US to know what we are talking about though and that's ok for me.

Does Australia an New Zealand share a military, or was that a onetime war time move?
Sorry for not knowing
Seperate. NZ may even have a tank now lol jks- Yeah, I don't think it's fair to blame the American general public for not knowing about an Australian celebration/public holiday. It's a completely different place Australia, compared to us they don't get much world wide news/events. We know so much about American culture because of all the movies. Without them I would have no idea what independence day and thanksgiving are!! Well, independence day is pretty self explanatory, but you get my point!

We don't share a military,we both have our own, it was a time us Aussies and kiwis banded together to fight as one. That's why the bond is so great between the two countriesCanyoneerroo wrote:
Ok, so this may be a respected Australian holiday, but why in the * are putting this * on the Simpson's forum?
Mate have some respect, with the amount of Aussies that are on the forum, what difference was it from the Boston marathon post? But iam not that disrespectful or arrogant to even ask the question You just did,if you don't approve, leave this post mate, you open yourself to blasting, considering YOU click on this topic to begin with.emmcee1 wrote:

(My first comment was sarcastic)
Why should some people know what happens in a country the opposite side of the earth? Offensive to not know what it is? Well I better look hard to find am event and if you don't know what it is I shall call you offensive and a brat, Operation Bernhard, Operation Long Jump? Oh what you don't know what they are, that's offensive. Not everyone reads a history book every night and learns every historical event in the world, and the majority of us do know what it is, so there isn't much need to post it, or we will get people posting every event in the world.Benedict XXI died on this day, I'm gonna create a thread showing rememberance. I'm not being cruel I know you are just respecting, but you shouldn't bite people's heads off when they don't know what it is...dominic115 wrote:

Iam not having a go at you for not knowing,it's the comment you made was disrespectful, how can anybody take you sarcastically, iam not you and I don't know what your thinking, and if you do post something I don't know about, ill do research first or not comment at all. Not "whats this Fnnn crap?" Sorry mate I think you didn't realise what you got yourself into, by all means post what you like I just know, myself i won't be that bloody stupid to make a comment like that. Not only that you don't have to be Australian for this particular day it affects Turkish people as well as New Zealanders. How would you feel if your grandfather died for your country, how would you feel then? Or would it be a sarcastic state of remorse.

Right, it's the day Will Smith beat back the alien invasion. We commemorate it on July 4th.- exactly! bahaha

I do get your point, if that's the case it's quite upsetting,as we are taught a bit about the American tradion, culture and days of morning. Don't understand why USA isn't the same. After all we are brother nations, like I said before at the service I went to, we paid respect to your troops lost at war as well by raising your flag and a moments silence. Made me bloody proud as an Aussie I tell ya, it would have the same feeling as your Independence Day basically or thanksgiving.
