- Even Milhouse admits it's a ripoff.
Though he is referring to squid-port's itchy and scratchy shop.

The only thing you HAVE to do is wait awhile; spend money if you want but it's nowhere near a requirement. Is it a little excessive for ONE piece of boardwalk? Definitely, but who knows what else is coming down the pike? I'd honestly be surprised if there wasn't something up EA's sleeve on this one.
- Upon further toying with the game I can see first why they did this and second why I still think it's a bad idea.
First off, there is a LOT of real estate available for not many new structures/decorations. The people who get a ton of boardwalk space probably already have a ton of donuts and are planning on buying multiple premium items and tons of decorations.
Second, by making the wait time 3 months it extends the length of summer, for something that's not going to even go away (since it's an expansion to the game not an event). This 3 months should see 3-5 more levels in the game, new characters and storylines.
Third, there's only 1 thing that I know of that sits in the water and that's the boat, the max number of tiles cannot begin to take up the amount of land you can buy (even though I bought ALL the land, I had over 4 mil banked from sitting at the top level doing nothing), so I imagine at some point they will have additional items that go in the water or to add to the dock area.
I still think the tiles should be free, because the heart of the game is creativity and its very hard to be creative when you're waiting several days or weeks to place 1 building and then waiting additional time for it to build. For the people who want the story this really delays it, and it sucks when you don't get any more cinematics and only text-based dialogue between the characters that is really hit or miss, for all the days of waiting. I realize the point of the game is city builder and to create a city that looks and feels good, but they really went overboard (yes, pun intended) with this one, I'm not sure why they did this but it really made me suddenly hate this update after looking forward to it for a month. Additional. Just seen this.
Not counting sign.
First 4 are free.
Tile 5 takes 1 hour $250
6 takes 2 hours $450
7 takes 4 hours $850
8 takes 8 hours $1700
9 takes 12 hours $2500
10 takes 16 hours $3350
11 - 15 take 24 hours $5000 (5 days)
16 - 30 take 36 hours $7,500 (22.5 days)
31 - 60 take 48 hours $10,000 (60 days)
61 - 90 take 60 hours $12,500 (75 days)
91 - 120 Need to redo my Springield!105 take 72 hours $15,000 (90 days)
121 - 151 take 84 hours $17,500 (108.5 days)
About 345 days total time.
This needs fixing. They are having a laugh.
Well this is handy to have, thank you for posting it.
Does anybody know for sure if it is 100 tiles or 154? I would hate to think that it will take us a year to finish this. It seems like the 3 months is more plausible given that they probably want this to extend over summer.- I don't think it's a rip-off because you just have to have patience but I think it's has definitly been over-hyped. Trust me to expect something better from EA. I'm gonna enjoy the seashore but Squidport is just a bit blah. I felt more excitement getting the Motel during WD. Hopefully they will throw us a bone once in a while...and then it will be a rip-off
- If you genuinely think its a rip off then don't give them money.
- BGringoNew SpectatorTime is free, this game exudes patience. I saw the price point last year and I won't be giving them any more money. Still a great update and I'm sure it'll be tweaked over the next month or so

If the past is anything to go by, they will eventually remove the option to build squidport and I can guarantee gill will appear with a donut a tile offer to try make you spend to atleast complete squidport,it's bound to happen, or you just resist and have an incomplete structure. But if its 3 months compared the year prediction to complete, I could live with 3 months. 12months to overboard.emmcee1 wrote:

I never understood why some people want all the pieces - it's like being level 10 and wanting all the land. There's no point if there is not enough stuff to put on it.- Squid port is not a limited item so it is always available.
It never ceases to amaze me, but some on this forum are not happy unless they can rush through the tasks and finish everything as soon as possible. Well, it costs you more to do that if you're so desperate, but that hardly says its a rip off.
I like the idea of Squidport - slowly building something over a few months. It will keep interest level up and I can slowly develop the boardwalk and surrounding land. This is what the game is about - no need to speed tasks up, or pay real money to get tiles.
