Can Neighbors Buildings' Be Double Tapped?

When I first began playing back in July, I asked the question, "Should I always leave some of my SF stuff uncollected so it will be there when my SF friends visit?" and was told by more than one player that I didn't need to worry about it, my collecting did not take away possible $$/XP from my friends. One of them said that the only thing removing collect -able $$/XP from my SF was other SF friends of mine visiting and collecting.
From reading this thread, it sounds like those people were wrong and I should leave some of my stuff uncollected. Yes or no?
