Relax folks, the servers are just being slow because it's a brand new update and there are literally MILLIONS of people downloading the update right now, each of which is a couple hundred megabytes, and on top of that it has to do all the tracking of people's app versions, and more.
Slowly but surely more and more towns that I previously was blocked from are now one by one each letting me in. Just have a tiny bit of patience. EA has had a lot of unacceptable bugs, but this ain't one of them. This is simply a very temporary very short term slowdown of just one single new feature because millions of people are in the processof getting served updates right now. This is an entirely reasonable situation to expect. By this time tomorrow I bet the VAST majority of updated app towns will allow you in.
