2. Use something large from inventory to cover the car, then hit X to cancel

It really make designing more fun with this option so it would be awful if it was taken away. - ? i had no idea this was even possible!

Placing cars and other things on the roads is just the tip of the iceberg with this trick. Look around my town next chance you get; there's examples all over of where i've used this trick to force roads and rivers "behind" walls to create a forced-3D illusion of rivers wrapping around embankments; or roads & rivers continuing behind large buildings and mountains. Also great for bringing lakes right up to steep cliffsides and shoreline retaining walls. I use the technique everywhere - 4junk3000New SpectatorHere’s some examples for non-neighboreenos…
Look at this garbage corral. I used “the technique” for the chain link fence along the coast, so I could place the concrete walls and green gate behind it:
These cliff side structures and the retaining walls appear elevated when I force the lake behind them:
The satellite should appear floating over the mansion “below” it
The technique allowed me to create this rocky shoreline…
…and the river running under this hotel building…
…and under the rope bridge to make it appear much higher in elevation:
There’s lot of places I’ve made roads look like they continue behind taller structures, but this design is most elaborate. I’ve tried to make the Bandit Hideout and Stonecutter Lodge appear on a large cliff overlooking the farmlands behind it. Continuing the road with “the technique”; and the cornfields using repetition of form helps make this illusion happen.
This pic shows the difference clearly. I’ve left one section of land at the door, for the gondola to be boarded. The rest of the coast has water coming right up to the embankment. This looks even better when the snow is gone - I used the trick to make cobbled road bridges. They're not perfect if you look too close but they'll do -
- frosted1414Seasoned Newcomer@4junk3000 those are so cool ? also nice one @1-Graham-S ?knowing how to do it easy, using it artistically is on another level!
- You need to have an item in inventory that is at least bigger than a ground tile, can't be a store item you just don't complete buying or something moved from elsewhere. Bigger the better.
You also need to ensure the outline covers all the area where the ground tile is to go in order to free up the ability to place it under the item, for example put the car where you want it, place something from inventory over to trick freeing placing the road tile(s) then place the road tile(s).
If the stored item isn't big enough to cover all the area where you want to place ground tiles place what you can then go back to the stored item and place it over the next section so you can put down more ground tiles bit by bit.
Also, if you place the car etc. and want / need to move it you'll need to start again.
4junk3000- I saw you did that I just assumed it was a part of the glitch you talked about ??♀️but now that I know, you’re right ! Tip of the iceberg ??
