Character Locator

much needed 8)
  • This is why I prefer to give my characters assignments that puts them indoors, in fixed, memorable locations. I'm at a point where I dole out mostly 8-, 12-, and 24-hour chores, which I choose based on whether or not the character will be in a fixed location. I usually give a couple characters jobs of 2-, 3-, or 4-hours jobs during the daytime, mainly to remind myself to collect rent regularly.

The task bar--which I REALLY wish would stay closed by default--is one way to locate a character if he/she becomes free and has a task to do. I could see an alternate to the the task book that had the characters in it. Just switch between the task and character books.

But really--the most practical thing for now? Keep your characters indoors!

I think there should just be 2 numeric values with labels. One for idle characters, and one for characters that have tasks completed, so it does both. I know some people like to clear everything first, then it's a game of Where's Waldo finding all the runners. But if there was a list of characters that had tasks completed, then it would also let you know how many have thumbs up, so you know how many are still free-range/done at a building with tasks to be cleared.

+ 1 for an idle character button. Usually I just hurry up and reassign a character to a task. Sometimes I don't, if I want to use a joint task, like Burns and Smithers on the ferris wheel. By the time I find Smithers, I'm searching all over for Burns because he's the one that triggers the task.

I have almost every character except for the one that came with the premium gym and maybe one other. Drives me crazy trying to find someone with all the buildings and decorations. Even when using the edit button, with a large town, it's a challenge.

What I really hate, is when you log in later only to see you missed someone that could have been making you money. Instead, they were walking around for 8-12 hours.

So hopefully, soon, ea will add this to the game. :D

I think it would be great if you could assign tasks as you go into the character descriptions you showed earlier in this thread. It would be cool if you could open up churchy Joes and tap on Rev Lovejoy and his various tasks could pop up. Otherwise, I am just like Indy and probably a lot of other people who assign tasks as soon as I collect the money from that character before they wander off.

+1 I agree that this would be the best way to put it in the game.
