I think its certain houses the group goes to but not all of them. I believe its the "Visitable Homes" the characters go to but not all the "Homes" because if they went to the homes then they would go to the nearest building with the $ sign over it.

I don't know all of the "Visitable Homes" locations but my characters are currently at Lincoln's Cabin, Gingerbread House (the one that comes with Suzanne), Cool Brown House, Future Simpson's House, Bachelor Arms, and Skinner House.

It's so nice to have them at different locations and not lose the extra when you've reached each prize.

I have some at the Pumpkin House and the Scandal-Gate Hotel.
