That trick with the corn only works during events when part of the questline involves growing a crop on Cletus's farm. Such as during Valentines when you had to grow roses. If that's the only reason you plant it, then it's best to wait until it comes up, then plant the corn before starting that particular task. You can cancel the corn if you want by storing the farm. You will lose the money you paid but the farm will be free when you bring it back out
As for the moonshine, is that to brew moonshine or to grow the crop. If it's for Cletus to brew moonshine, you can do that regardless of what's growing on the farm. You just need Cletus free.

In all fairness, no one knows when the next update will drop. Since we got level 43 so recently, I'm not expecting anything anytime soon (Prove me wrong, EA, I dare you, in fact I triple DOG dare you!). As for the sped up corn, it has only happened once as long as I've been playing. If I remember correctly (which in all fairness, I may not), it was during the Valentines event earlier this year, and it only happened so they could introduce the event's special crop, which were rose bushes. I just remember being hacked off that I missed an exploit I would have been happy to, well, exploit. Now as for your particular situation, sometimes the game will produce random "make-work" tasks, particularly if your town is sort of at a slow point. Are you sure the "brew moonshine" task didn't just show up in your task book, and is therefore waiting to be done until your corn is grown? Either way, I regret to inform you EA isn't going to care, but unless there's some weird bug I've never personally heard of going on in your game, I can probably walk you through this.

Did it happen for the bunny carrots, too? Awww, #%@$$%#$@!!! That's another exploit I would have liked to exploit. No, I (unfortunately) didn't miss the Easter event, and my bank account is STILL nursing the wounds. :wink:

I originally posted to get an idea if anyone else had the perception I did about normally growing crops and getting a crop task in the middle of it.

It's not meant to be a submission for my PhD thesis, I simply had an inquiry. To clarify, my corn is growing separately, and I have Cletus brewing moonshine also. This all rose from my thought that brewing moonshine is an actual option for Cletus to "grow" as a crop. So that was my attempt at humor. I joked that Cletus should not be able to brew while corn was already growing. If he could, it would have been nice to have had the surprise that my corn could have been sped up, like as said, was done for the valentines rose bushes.

Well, that's at least a good thing. I thought you genuinely had a problem and I was going to try to help you with it. I was kind of wondering when you said "brew" as opposed to "harvest", especially when you said you don't have the still. Anyways, I'm glad you don't have an issue, and I got to find out I missed out on an exploit not once, but twice. C'est la vie.

Thank you for your helpful spirit and intention. Don't feel too bad, I also was unaware I missed both exploits until I read these posts.

Yep, whenever those side task come up you can do it whenever. No hurry & it doesn't affect further quest
