YOU heard me right, for this rockin' event, you're the roadie doin' it all: settin' up stage, stringin' up lights, pluggin' in instruments. You're SO busy there's no time to pronounce the letter G!

So because i know we're busy, I'm limiting the SCOPE OF THIS CONTEST TO THE STAGE ONLY. (NOT the surrounding area, ok?)


HOW TO ENTER:

-- YOU will create and submit ONE screenshot, zoomed IN to MAX CLOSENESS, of any stage in your SF.

-- The shot must be at MAX ZOOM IN, so the top and bottom edges of the stage are as close as possible to the top and bottom edges of the pic! (This contest is focusing on the stage "show", not the surrounding area. Please post your wider area shots in the Showcase!)

-- Your entry must include a band name and a song name that they're performing. YOU HAVE FULL CREATIVE LICENSE WITH THESE NAMES, so make 'em count.

HOW TO WIN:

Your entry will earn two scores, one from your adoring fans (forum participants) and one from the Chief Sound Engineer and Tour Manager (me).
Your entry will earn points from the Tour Manager for:

- band name
- song name
- band configuration
- amp config
- lighting config
- stage decoration
- adherence to specified contest parameters

Your entry will also receive a score for its rank in our "People's Choice" vote, which will open at the end of the event. Winners will be announced for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in the People's Choice, and an Ultimate Showman Award presented for the very best final entry, decided by... a panel of celebrities... I'm working on booking at the moment... but Ozzy's going straight to VM, and Mick just tweeted he's in the can, so DND... Trust me it'll Come Together like the Beetles!


WHAT TO DO NOW:

1. Act 3 has begun. Create your stage screen shot, host it to imgur.com

2. PM me with the image address of your entry. Be sure to include your band's name and song name for their performance.

3. ONE entry per person, but you may update your entry while Submission is Open.

4. Submission closes in 14 days at the end of Act 3.

Sing it!

I just want to write band names and song titles. This might be because I've been building almost nothing but crowds - and not lasers. The few lasers I have are pointed at my airport, the oil rig and the rocketship.

I love a good contest, and appreciate anyone that hosts - but I dont really start designing until the event ends. My 2 cents would be to also include the area around the stage. Ive seen some really cool designs using the crowds and tents.

Zoomed in? Your not going to see my design that way that's for sure. We already know what the stage looks like lol...Its the design around the stage is what counts.

Some of you sound like you're missing the point of this particular contest. Here's why it's focused:

1. It IS early, and i KNOW some people don't decorate an area until the end of the event. So I'm removing the expectation of building all around the stage specifically to allow more people to participate.

2. Anyone with excess donuts can build a fancy huge area. But those of us on donut budgets may not. It's easy to be creative with unlimited resources. So the band name, config and song name offers a creative challenge that's donut-free.

3. Sometimes it's actually harder to work within tight parameters, vs having a completely blank canvas.

The contest is NOW OPEN. Hopefully many will participate but of course anyone is welcome to be merely a spectator.
